Well, pretty good day for the service with just under 5pts banked with 1 winner a 2nd and a nowhere from our 3 bets.
First up was GRUMETI 1.5PTS EW @ 11/2 B.O.G, who had been quite classy on the flat. He made his hurdling debut today and I said in the email sent to members that I thought he’d become a decent hurdling prospect. Travelling supremely well off a decent pace he took it up around 2 out before powering clear to win easily.
Next up was the very consistent ELIJAH PEPPER 1PT EW @ 5/1, He has been a really grand servant and never seems to run a bad race….. Unfortunately for us he did today!! After travelled OK but a bit wide he looked in a decent position to challenge, however he didn’t pick up for whatever reason and trailed in a disappointing last. Thankfully we were only on small and I can accept the odd shocking run from one of our bets.
We finished the day at Haydock where the ground was absolutely desperate! Sydney Paget 3pts win @ 9/4 BOG who had put in 2 very impressive performances in his last 2 races and looked sure to progress today. His main rival was a very live danger in the shape of 15/8 fav Knock A Hand but he was carrying a double penalty and I was keen to take him on. Unfortunately it looked to me that he maybe handled the conditions a little better than us and although the selection traded odds on in-running and looked like he would win approaching the last hurdle….. However he couldn’t muster enough of a kick to get past the winner who deserves plenty of credit for today’s win.
So a good day with 5pts profit and i’d take that every day of the week! Just one day left to take us up on the fantastic reduced offer on membership as the prices will on up on the 1st January.
Just a few bets to catch up on. A couple from before Christmas and 2 bets on Boxing Day.
2 bets for us today but unfortunately 2 losers also. First up was Mabait 1pt ew @ 6/1 who was officially rated the best of these and having moved to David Simcock from Luca Cumani I was expecting a big run. He fluffed the start however and was always behind although he made eye-catching headway in the last 2 furlongs and is definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.
Next up was Suits Me 1pt ew @ 7/1 also at Lingfield, he is a horse that loves it out in-front and even though Lingfield is a tricky place to try those tactics, I felt he might be able to get his own way and nick a couple of lengths at the turn? things didn’t pan out though and he set the race up for horses with a bit of kick and got ran out of the placing close home.
2 bets for us today with 1 winner and a 2nd. First up was the mightily impressive induvidual Grand Crus 3pts win @ 11/8 who we’ve backed many times in the past. This was a hot race and he travelled supremely well throughout, taking up the running way out as he was just going so well, soon all of his rivals were flat to the boards and he had the race well won some 3 fences from home. He did idle in the last few 100 yards but was well above these today.
We then had Long Run 4pts win @ 5/4 who I really fancied to turn the Haydock tables with the mighty Kauto Star. He didn’t jump as fluently as ideal and when kauto poured on the pressure jumping well, we just got a little tapped for toe and made another blunder which gifted Kauto a good lead. He did plug on and made up a lot of ground between the last 2 fences but in all honesty he never looked like getting there and we just have to salute a great champion. I would be all over Long Run if they meet at Cheltenham but that’s a long way off yet!!
Just want to remind possible subscribers that the special reduced terms will revert back to normal prices on 1st Jan 2012, so I would suggest if you are thinking of joining? Do it before then.
3 Bets for us yesterday, with 1 winner and 2 2nds! Very frustrating after getting off to such a good start.
First up was Katys Secret 1pt ew @ 8/1 r4, at Lingfield, who has been running consistently well this term, unfortunately the fav was a non runner which left us with a rule 4 and she went off an excellent sp of 11/2.
She broke well from the inside, always travelled well and asserted at the furlong pole for a smooth success and a nice winner for us.
Next up was Kumbeshwar 2pts win @ 10/3, he was getting a handy weight for age allowance and looked a good hurdler who will make a chaser, Ascot was very very testing yesterday and I did fear the worst when I saw the well backed Zaynar out in front jumping well. I thought it would be hard to pick up in this ground and so it proved with Zaynar galloping on strongly to win well, Kumbeshwar ran well though and battled on strongly to grab 2nd.
We then went to Wolverhampton for our strongest bet of the day, Wreningham 3pts win @ 9/4. He was a winner without a penalty and got the value as he was smashed into 11/8 at the off. This one really hurt as he looked to have the race all sewn up at the furlong pole trading at 1.10 in-running with the eventual winner trading at 700 in-running. His inexperienced jockey maybe should of got a little breather into him down the back as he was off like a scalded cat and in the finish he wasn’t really giving him much assistance from the saddle. That said though I know this is going to happen in such races and cannot blame him at all, we know the risks when backing apprentices and therefore have to accept that they aren’t the finished article.
So could of been a very very good day but had to just settle for the 1 winner in the end which obviously I am happy about. I am going to settle the winner at 11/2 because most members got that through BOG, as the bet was sent out just as the non runner came out.
Just another reminder that prices go back up on Jan 1st, so if you haven’t subscribed? Save some money and do so now!!!!
