Fantasic day for us on Saturday with 2 winners from our 4 bets including our Max Bet. I have about an 80% strike rate with the max bets over the pat 4 years so it was nice to see GRANDOUET win very easily.
As mentioned first up was GRANDOUET of Nicky Hendersons (5pts win maximum @ 5/6 Ladbrokes) He is a horse I really like and I think he’s going right to the top of the hurdling game. I said in the email that I rated him a near 1/2 shot so I was very pleased with the 5/6 Ladbrokes offered us.
We then had HIDDEN PASSION 3pts win @ 5/2 generally, at Lingfield, I was really hoping Jamie Spencer would be holding her up as she was tackling 7f for the first time and she could settle off a nice pace and pick up the fav and front runner in the straight. However she broke well and was always bang up there which I am certain didn’t suit as she was made too much use of throughout the race over a distance that was maybe too far? Anyway she didn’t really pick up when needed and finished 3rd without being able to land a blow.
Next we had a small bet on DIAMOND HARRY 1.5pts win @ 5/1 Bet365 and others, I felt he was a tad overpriced and hoped to catch Long Run while he wasn’t fully fit,we weren’t the only ones as he was punted down to 3/1 but was well beaten in the end. The major suprise for me was Kauto Star coming back to form and winning really well!! Didn’t see that one coming and well done to connections for keeping this great horse in training….they’re decision was vindicated and they must of been over the moon with him on Saturday. He wouldn’t be my idea of the winner at Kempton (King George) however, with a fit Long Run re opposing and Master Minded having that race as his main target all season….5/1 looks too sort for me but I still wouldn’t be a layer just yet.
finally our 4th bet was a fellow we have bet several times in the past, IMSINGINGTHEBLUES 2PTS EW @ 8/1 GENERALLY. I said in the email he wasn’t a prolific winner but his best form had him bang in the mix in this race. He ended up winning really well and I was really pleased for him as he did deserve a nice race after being so consistent over the course of the last 12months.
So a great day with 20 odd points added to the total and that puts us up over 40pts for the year which I am over the moon about given our 2 month break and a horrendous run of results earlier in the year. It just shows that if you stay positive and professional, you can come out of the bad runs and into profit with controlled staking, it’s a very long term game horse racing betting and you have to have a great belief in your ability of getting value…If you can constantly find value bets you will show a profit regardless of the obvious drawdowns, bad luck and lean times.
Hope you all had a profitable weekend
